Library to Hold Knitting Class

The Georgetown Public Library will be offering a 6 week knitting class on Mondays starting June 29th to August 3rd from 1:30 pm to 3:30pm. Class size is limited and preregistration is a must for more information or to register for the class please call the library at 856-7958.

PPP Kids Program

Possum Point Players' popular summer kids' programs are open for registration. The two academies, one for grades two through five and one for grades five through ten, will run July 27-31 and August 3-7, respectively.

Possums' youth programs are designed with age-appropriate theatrical activities, during the weeklong program at Possum Hall. Applications have been mailed out to past participants, but newcomers may obtain an application by calling the Possum office at 302/856-3460. Each program runs from 9am to 4pm daily, with each day filled with activities to help the participants become more comfortable on-stage and with other aspects of the theatre.

THEATER ACADEMY - Grades 5 - 10

Enrollment fee is $175 per camper Early Bird registration, before June 30, is $150 per camper
Enrollment is limited.
Features fun and learning about the theatre,
learning how to focus and concentrate,
act, speak, sing, dance, and improvise.

The camp culminates with a show, produced and presented by the campers on Friday.

PPP Presents "James & The Giant Peach"

Possum Point Players' youth organization, the Possum Juniors, is preparing to present James and the Giant Peach by Richard George on July 22-26. George's play is based on the popular children's story of the same name by Roald Dahl.

Possum Juniors, or "PJs", do an annual, kid-friendly, summer production. All production decisions are made by the teens elected to lead the group. This year, the director of James and the Giant Peach is Peyton Lynch of Georgetown, who was the President of PJs during the past school year. Lynch graduated from Sussex Central this May, and will be majoring in theatre at Towson University in the fall.

PPP Auditions for "An Inspector Calls"

Possum Point Players will be holding open auditions for the fall production of "An Inspector Calls" by J.B. Priestley. Auditions will be taking place on July 19th and 20^th at Possum Hall in Georgetown.

"An Inspector Calls" takes place in a family's home in an English city, in 1910. In this psychological mystery, the visiting inspector illuminates ways the family's lives interact with those around them - ways they may not have noticed. Under pressure, the family members react in varied ways. Director George Spillane returns to the helm with this show.

Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover offers a support group for family and friends of people with Alzheimer's disease, a disease which makes it hard for people to remember, think and use language. Alzheimer's is more common in adults and affects people of all races.

Cindy Drew, RN, of Bayhealth's Education Department leads this monthly group in discussion about the effects of Alzheimer's. She also provides information on the latest research and ways of coping with this challenging disease.

Yard Sale to Benefit Theatre Arts Academy

Encore Thrift Shop will be holding a yard sale and bake sale on Saturday, July 18. All proceeds will be donated to the Theatre Arts Academy program of Cape Henlopen High School. The students are saving money to travel with Clear Space to Osaka, Japan, in April 2010 to perform a multi-generational production of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF including students of all ages as well as members of the Clear Space Theatre Company. The Japan Trip Fundraising Committee has partnered with Encore Thrift Shop to create a Yard Sale Event where all items will be sold at discounted prices for one day only.

Bayhealth Total Joint Replacement Class

Bayhealth's total joint replacement classes at Kent General and Milford Memorial Hospitals familiarize patients scheduled for a total joint replacement with the expected plan of care. The class includes a tour of the nursing unit and inpatient therapy department.

Classes meet every Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Total Joint Center's Community Room on the third floor of Milford Memorial Hospital. To register, call the Total Joint Center at (302) 430-5600.

Libby Zando and Bob Blayney, owners of Zando Designs of Milton, are inviting Theatre patrons and public alike to their vintage home and extensive gardens overlooking the Broadkill River. The late Victorian brick house at 210 Chandler Street is a well known site at the head of the Broadkill River, perched high above The Memorial Park and the Town Docks. The brick structure, with wrap around porches, was built circa 1905 by Captain George Megee, a noted ship chandler. The home is a beacon, greeting visitors by boat and by land atop one of Sussex Counties highest points.
