PPP Kids Program

Possum Point Players' popular summer kids' programs are open for registration. The two academies, one for grades two through five and one for grades five through ten, will run July 27-31 and August 3-7, respectively.

Possums' youth programs are designed with age-appropriate theatrical activities, during the weeklong program at Possum Hall. Applications have been mailed out to past participants, but newcomers may obtain an application by calling the Possum office at 302/856-3460. Each program runs from 9am to 4pm daily, with each day filled with activities to help the participants become more comfortable on-stage and with other aspects of the theatre.

Enrollment fee is $175 per camper Early Bird registration, before June 30, is $150 per camper
Enrollment is limited.
Features fun and learning about the theatre,
learning how to focus and concentrate,
act, speak, sing, dance, and improvise.

The camp culminates with a show, produced and presented by the campers on Friday.

The Southern Delaware Prostate Cancer Support Group is for any individual who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, no matter what the stage of treatment or recovery. Spouses, friends and other family members are welcome to attend. The members are provided an opportunity to share their experiences with others, facing similar challenges.

The group meets in two location sites. The first location is in Kent General Hospital's Outpatient Rehab Conference Room, meetings are held the third Wednesday of odd-numbered months from 7:00 p.m.

The luncheon is scheduled for Wed., August 26 from Noon to 1 p.m. at the CHEER Center on Sand Hill Rd. and is open to the public, but reservations are requested. The cost is $10.00.

Bayhealth Open House at Milton Facility

Bayhealth Medical Center will host a special open house of its Milton facility on Saturday, August 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Located in the Clipper Square Shopping Center on the corner of Mulberry Street and Route 16, Bayhealth's facility includes the new office of family practitioner Elisa Montross-Lopez, MD, and obstetrician/gynecologist Miaohou, Xu, MD, PhD, and the new location of the Milton Outpatient Services Center.

Tours, refreshments and giveaways will be available. Community members are also invited to being documents for free shredding in a confidential on-site shredder supplied by DataGuard.

Delaware Seaside Railroad Club Open House

The Delaware Seaside Railroad Club will continue its Open House program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 15 in cooperation with the Historic Georgetown Association and the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce. The current display will include operating O and S gauge layouts and other interesting items regarding toy trains and the model railroading hobby.

There is noc harge for admission but donations are always welcome. Club members are on hand to advise the public on the value and repair of old toy trains.

The display is located on the second floor of the restored Georgetown Train Station, 140 Layton Avenue, Georgetown. There is no elevator in the building.

The YWCA Delaware Center for Women's Enterpreneurship, in partnership with teh US SMall Business Administration, Delaware District Office, has initiated a dynamic forum for women owners to share, discuss growth topics and similar challenges.

Power Thursday discussions allow women business owners to learn from each other in two-hour sessions through a facilitated group process. Each session is limited to 10 participants, early registration is recommended. Registration is $10.00 per participant.

Libby Zando and Bob Blayney, owners of Zando Designs of Milton, are inviting Theatre patrons and public alike to their vintage home and extensive gardens overlooking the Broadkill River. The late Victorian brick house at 210 Chandler Street is a well known site at the head of the Broadkill River, perched high above The Memorial Park and the Town Docks. The brick structure, with wrap around porches, was built circa 1905 by Captain George Megee, a noted ship chandler. The home is a beacon, greeting visitors by boat and by land atop one of Sussex Counties highest points.

Apology For The Life of an Actor, an original production written by and starring Dr. T. Paul Pfeiffer, is a comic representation of life in the theatre in the early 18th century. The show is based on the memoirs of Colley Cibber, comedian, theatre manager of the Drury Lane, and Poet Laureate. Known as the "Father of Sentimental Comedy," and his adaptations of Shakespeare "to make him fitter for the Stage," Cibber's sheer self-confidence drew biting criticism. Yet his sense of Theatre was keen and what he had to say about theatre and acting is as true today as it was in 1745.

The Milton Theatre is pleased to announce the 10th Annual Broadkill River Canoe & Kayak Race will held on Saturday, August 22, 2009.

This year's race promises to not only be filled with intense competition, but also with a variety of events for spectators. As always, Bargains on the Broadkill will be held in Milton Memorial Park, featuring local craft vendors, an art show, and a wide variety of food. Child-friendly events, such as face painting, will be held throughout the day.

Oh Boy! A Buddy Holly Tribute Band

To commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the passing of the late great Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Buddy Holly, Walt Hetfield has put together a four-piece tribute band and stage show. The group features Hetfield as "Buddy" and guitarist Mike Long, bassist and pianist Barry Eli, and drummer Ken Schleifer reprising the role of his back-up band, the Crickets.

Hetfield is renowned locally in the Cape Henlopen region in Delaware as a music teacher and for his rock and roll summer camp.
