The fourth annual AmeriCorps Week, taking place May 8-15, 2010, provides the perfect opportunity for AmeriCorps members, alums, grantees, program partners, and friends to shine a spotlight on AmeriCorps and to motivate more Americans to serve. The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act has set a bold vision of expansion, impact, and innovation for AmeriCorps, and momentum for national service has never been stronger. Individuals and organizations with a special interest in AmeriCorps-especially, members, programs, and alums-are encouraged to use their creativity to mark the week in any way they see fit.
In Delaware, the Governor's Commission on Community & Volunteer Service working alongside the Delaware InterCorps Council (DEIC) are gearing up for the week by seeking partnerships from schools, government agencies, and, non-profit and faith-based organizations to come up with service projects to be done throughout the State during that week.
If your organization has a project that you require AmeriCorps members to assist with, please submit a one page description for the project and ensure that it provides as much details as possible (location, time, project type, how many members needed, etc.) to enable DEIC officials when they will be making choices for the projects.
All requests with detailed information can be emailed to barbara.richardson@state.de.us by March 25th, 2010, 4:30p.m. You can also contact us at 302-255-9883 for more information about the AmeriCorps Week or clarification about the service projects.
