Kent and Sussex County will soon have a more direct voice in the leadership of a prestigious medical professional organization.

Bayhealth Cardiologist John Shuck, MD, has been elected Delaware's Governor-Elect to the American College of Cardiology.  When he assumes office in March of 2011, Dr. Shuck will be the first ACC Governor from downstate Delaware in recent memory.

"As Delaware Governor, I will be a voice for the entire First-State but will certainly be a strong champion for important cardiology issues impacting downstate residents," said Dr. Shuck.John Shuck MDJohn Shuck MD

Dr. Shuck will represent Delaware on the ACC Board of Governors, which promotes research, continuing education and evidence-based medicine for all cardiologists.  Dr. Shuck will be a liaison between the ACC and Delaware cardiologists and cardiology patients.   He will also represent Delaware's interests in public policy positions adopted by the ACC Board.

"One of my priorities will be keeping Kent and Sussex County residents informed and reaching out (to them) to receive feedback on vital policy issues," Dr. Shuck.
