The fourth annual AmeriCorps Week, taking place May 8-15, 2010, provides the perfect opportunity for AmeriCorps members, alums, grantees, program partners, and friends to shine a spotlight on AmeriCorps and to motivate more Americans to serve. The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act has set a bold vision of expansion, impact, and innovation for AmeriCorps, and momentum for national service has never been stronger. Individuals and organizations with a special interest in AmeriCorps-especially, members, programs, and alums-are encouraged to use their creativity to mark the week in any way they see fit.
Bayhealth Medical Center will offer free colorectal and prostate cancer screenings in late March and early April. These free screenings are part of Bayhealth's efforts to educate the community and help people identify cancer in its earliest, most treatable stage.
"Colorectal cancer is the third leading type of cancer in the United States, and like many cancers, symptoms are rare in its early stages. If people wait for symptoms before getting screened, it's more likely they will be diagnosed with advanced disease", according to Bayhealth Medical Center Cancer Screening Nurse Navigator, Paula Hess, MSN, RN, OCN.

Possum Point Players' spring musical is the 2001 Broadway sensation "Urinetown." Since she has done it for nearly every PPP show since 2000, it may be difficult for some people to imagine what type of specialty drink, Nita Gary will create for this show.
Nita is the lovely, some say zany, lady who has volunteered her time at just about every Possum Point Players show for many years. Many will remember Nita as the actress who played Mrs. Paroo in "Music Man", Mrs. Baker in "Butterflies Are Free" and she was even a Hot Box Girl in PPP's first production of "Guys and Dolls" in 1984!
