Bayhealth Announces Nurses of the Year

Dover, Delaware - Capping off a week of nursing recognition during National Nurses Week, Bayhealth announced its Nurses of the Year last week.

Lauren Huff, RN, BSN, is Nurse of the Year for Bayhealth Kent General and Pamela James, BSN, is Nurse of the Year for Bayhealth Milford Memorial. Both nurses will become nominees for the Delaware Excellence in Nursing Practice Awards, given by the Delaware Nurses Association each year to the top nurse in Delaware. The Bayhealth Nurses of the Year will also attend the National Magnet Conference this October in Baltimore, Maryland.

Beebe Medical Center Opens New Walk-in Care Center in Millville

Lewes, DE (May 11, 2012) On Memorial Day weekend, Beebe Medical Center will open the Beebe Health Campus - Millville Walk-in Care Center for visitors and residents whose primary care physicians are unavailable. The Walk-in Care Center will be open daily, seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the summer season. The hours the center will be open during the fall and winter months will be posted before Labor Day Weekend. No appointments are necessary.

The Walk-in Care Center is in the Creekside Plaza on Route 26, just five miles west of Route 1.

Dover, Delaware - Bayhealth announces its top employees and leader of the year for 2011. Physical Therapist Kris Surdukowski, PT, DPT, has earned Employee of the Year for Bayhealth-Kent General, Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse Kim Campbell, BSN, RN, CCRN, has earned Employee of the Year for Bayhealth Milford Memorial, and Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit Nurse Manager Susan Litchford, RN, BSN, CNML is Outstanding Leader of the Year.

Surdukowski, Campbell, and Litchford each receive an engraved crystal award, eight hours of paid time off, and a $200 gift card.

In recognition of its 30^th anniversary of providing quality end-of-life care and support, Delaware Hospice has launched a new website to address the community's growing end-of-life needs.

Bayhealth Joins Campaign To Encourage Organ Donations

Bayhealth is joining with the Delaware Healthcare Association, the Gift of Life, and other Delaware hospitals in supporting the national Workplace Partnership for Life (WPFL) hospital campaign which encourages more people to become organ donors.

Bayhealth Diagnostic Imaging Manager and Gift of Life supporter Peter Calabrese notes that his late wife Lois Calabrese was able to help many people through her organ donations.

"Lois and I had decided many years ago that we would be organ donors. Lois was always the type to give and that didn't stop when she passed," he said.

Possum Point Players' Subgroup On The Edge Performs Echoes of War in Eastern States Theater Festival

By placing fourth at the Delaware Theater Association state competition, On The Edge, a subgroup of the Possum Point Players recently qualified to present their original theater piece, Echoes of War, at the Eastern States Theater Festival in Wilkes Barre, PA. during the weekend of April 20^th.
