A proud member of United Way and Better Business Bureau of Delaware, CHEER is a bonded and licensed Home Services Agency and has been serving the 50+ population of Sussex County for nearly 40 years. InHome Services are provided by trained housekeepers, home health aides or certified nurses all under the supervision and direction of Registered or Licensed Practical Nurses. Personal Home Care. Personal Home Care provides 247 assistance with daily living activities such as: bathing, grooming, exercise, eating, meal preparation and errands. Everything is designed to help keep seniors comfortable and safe lifestyle in their own homes. CHEER's Nutrition Program serves hearthealthy daily meals analyzed and supervised by a Registered Dietitian. CHEER is a Meals On Wheels Delaware member agency and delivers meals to homebound adults throughout Sussex County by way of a wide assortment of volunteers. CHEER's friendly Activity Centers offer numerous opportunities for older adults to stay healthy and active. Members can enjoy exercise programs, support groups, craft classes, health seminars, concerts, games and much more. Nutritious daily midday meals are served to Activity Center members. The CHEER Transportation Program helps seniors maintain their independence by having access to their community with doortodoor bus rides to and from the Activity Centers. The CHEER buses also provide weekly shopping trips, recreational and educational trips and medical rides. All buses are driven by highly trained drivers and are wheelchair capable. Along with the CHEER buses, there is the Sussex County Mobility Consortium. A major problem for many Sussex Countians is being isolated in their home. Using a network of buses, vans and volunteers in the community, a person is transported to and from their destination, even a job if that is what is needed. This program is funded through donations, fares, county and federal funds and private grants. CHEER Community Resources provide services to the residents of Sussex County by utilizing volunteers of all ages. This program provides such services as: Phone Friends and Visiting Friends (reassurance programs for the homebound) Homebound Meal Delivery and CHEERAPet (nursing home and assisted living facility visits with small pets). CHEER Caregiver Services is available for family members providing daily care to someone 60 years of age or older providing them with assistance from the ongoing duties of caregiving. Trained staff members step in and care for an individual for a few hours a day up to full 247 coverage. CHEER Resource Center is a large lending library housed in the CHEER Community Center in Georgetown, DE that offers informative and helpful training videos, comprehensive resource directories, books, pamphlets and other resource material on caregiving.
